At The Dulini Collection we have put enormous effort into ensuring the continued safety of both our guests and staff. As of September 2021, all of our staff members have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19. In addition, a strict sanitising and social distancing protocol is adhered to at all times. In partnership with a local healthcare provider, pre-departure PCR tests can be conducted at the lodge prior to your flight home if required at your time of travel. What is your safety protocol around Covid-19? The three Dulini lodges are located on a 10,500 hectare section of the Sabi Sand Nature Reserve. The Reserve shares an unfenced border with the world-famous Kruger National Park, in South Africa’s eastern Mpumalanga province. Click here to find us on Google Maps . Where is Dulini situated? Dulini is conveniently located for both scheduled and private air services, as well as self-drive road access. Guests can fly direct from Johannesburg to the Sabi Sand Nature Reserve with Federal Air. These flights land at Ulusaba Airstrip, a private runway within the reserve, located a short 20 minute mini game drive from Dulini. A complimentary 4x4 transfer will be provided. Alternatively, the nearest commercial airport is at Skukuza (airport code: SZK), a 60-minute road transfer from Dulini. Kruger-Mpumalanga International Airport (MQP), in the city of Mbombela, is a two-hour road transfer from the lodges. Transfers may be arranged at additional cost. Regional airline SA Airlink offers scheduled services from Johannesburg (JNB) and Cape Town (CPT) into Skukuza Airport and Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport. Flights to Skukuza or KMIA can be booked through SA Airlink (www.flyairlink.com ) . Guests are also welcome to self-drive to Dulini. The Sabi Sand Nature Reserve is a year-round safari destination, though each season has its unique character. The dry days of winter are considered the best for game viewing, with mild weather and less dense vegetation. Animals are also drawn to permanent water sources, providing excellent sightings. From October the summer rains, which fall in brief afternoon thundershowers, transform the landscape. This is perhaps the most scenic time of year, with lush vegetation and flowing rivers. An abundance of young antelope leads to high predator activity, and the arrival of migrant species from Europe and North Africa makes this the best time for birding. When is the best time to visit? We want our guests to be comfortable on safari, and there is no dress code at any of the Dulini lodges. Cotton clothing in neutral colours is recommended for game drives, and we advise dressing in layers to adjust to the changing temperatures throughout the day. Winter (May-September) in the bushveld can be cold, so pack a thermal fleece, jacket, hat and gloves. For bush walks, long trousers and comfortable walking shoes/hiking boots with long socks are recommended. Summer in the Lowveld brings warm days and blue skies, so swimsuits are essential for cooling off! Dulini offers a complimentary daily laundry service, so there is no need to overpack. What should I wear on safari? Guests at Dulini are offered a complimentary laundry service during their stay. The laundry endeavours to provide a same-day service. The service includes standard automatic machine washing and tumble drying. Dry cleaning and speciality laundry requirements are not available. A laundry bag and clothes list are provided in each suite. Please leave this on your bed before departing on the morning game activity, for our housekeepers to collect. Alternatively, speak to any of our friendly staff during the day for assistance. Do you provide a laundry service? All of the water in the guest suites and public areas has been treated using a reverse osmosis system and is safe to drink. However, drinking water in environmentally sustainable glass bottles is also provided in your suite. Can I drink the tap water? We are happy to take all dietary preferences and requirements into account. Please indicate these at the time of reservation. Our chefs are well acquainted with Kosher and Halaal catering as well as vegetarian and vegan preferences. I have specific dietary requirements. Can the chefs cater for me? While Dulini caters primarily to adult guests, children older than eight years are welcome at Dulini. Children can be accommodated on an additional bed or in a separate adjacent suite. Younger children may be accommodated, at the discretion of management. Children aged 8-16 years are charged at 50% of the adult rate when sharing with an adult. We politely request that the peaceful wilderness atmosphere of the lodge is respected, so as not to impact the experience of other guests. The Dulini lodges are situated in a wilderness environment. The safety of our young guests is paramount, and the behaviour of children is the sole responsibility of the parents/caregiver. In the interests of safety, the participation of children on game drives and walks is strictly at the discretion of our expert field guides and management. Child-minding services are available by special arrangement. Are children welcome at Dulini? Malaria is found across the region, although the remote location of our lodges within the Sabi Sand Nature Reserve means that the risk of infection is low. That risk is also greatly reduced during the dry winter months from May to September. However, anti-malarial prophylactics are recommended year-round, and we suggest that you consult your travel doctor at least three weeks before departure. Should I be worried about malaria? Moya and River Lodge offer a small gift gallery stocked with a curated collection of souvenirs, crafts and artworks by local designers and artisans. The gift galleries also stock a small selection of personal care items and Dulini-branded clothing. Leadwood does not have a gift gallery, but guests are easily transported to one of the other Dulini gift galleries on request. Is there a shop at the lodge? Tips and gratuities are entirely at your discretion but are always welcomed by our dedicated and passionate staff. Suggested gratuity amounts are available in your suite, with envelopes provided for tipping guides, trackers and housekeeping staff. We suggest paying these in cash, although payments can be processed via credit card on request. What are your guidelines on gratuities? Make An Enquiry Check-in is at 14h00 on the day of arrival. Lunch is also served at 14H00 on the day of arrival. Please let us know if an earlier arrival time is expected. While your suite may not be ready before 14h00, guests are welcome to relax in the communal lounge area. We request that guests check-out of their rooms by 11h00 on the day of departure. What are the arrival/departure times? Yes. High-speed Wi-Fi Internet access is available throughout the public areas of the lodge, as well as in your suite. There is no mobile phone signal at Dulini, although direct-dial telephones are available in all suites. Can I access the Internet during my stay at Dulini? The Lowveld region of South Africa, where Dulini is located, is defined by two distinct seasons: Spring/summer (October-April) brings warm to hot days, with dramatic afternoon thunderstorms.
